RESEARCH ASSOCIATES WANTED!

Job Posting Additive Manufacturing

Research associates wanted for the Additive Manufacturing focus!

The additive manufacturing of components (also known as 3D printing) holds immense potential for aspects such as "geometric freedom", "functional optimization and integration", "lightweight construction" and "bionics" in product development and component design. Laser beam-based processes currently dominate in the field of metals, both in the area of powder bed fusion (PBF) and direct(ed) energy deposition (DED). The manufacturing process, in which material should only be placed exactly where it is later needed in the component, presents a variety of challenges. It is also part of a more complex process chain that needs to be designed efficiently! Do you want to help exploit the untapped potential of the laser beam? Do you want to expand the state of research? Would you like to join our team? Join us in researching and developing new approaches and solutions for additive manufacturing based on our understanding!

Various research projects are waiting for your cooperation! With us, you will create the ideal basis for a scientific career as well as for a career as a manager and specialist in industry!

Please send us your application with a) letter of motivation, b) CV, c) copies of degree certificates and d) a writing sample (Master's thesis or similar) by 02.07.2024, quoting reference number w32/24! We look forward to hearing from you!

Your tasks:

  • Working on a current research project on an innovative approach to the additive manufacturing of metallic components
  • Focus: Experimental analysis of the process behavior in the powder bed (PBF-LB) and, if necessary, process simulation (CFD) of the processes
  • Participation in forward-looking research proposals with the opportunity and explicit desire to develop, integrate and implement your own ideas
  • Preparation of high-quality publications and presentation of your research results at (inter-) national conferences

What you bring with you:

  • Completed Master's degree in mechanical engineering, physics, industrial engineering, computer science or a related field
  • Enthusiasm for topics in the field of laser processing/3D printing
  • Very good knowledge of German and/or English, high personal motivation, quick comprehension, problem-solving skills, independent working style and reliability
  • Ideally experience in the experimental or simulative investigation of manufacturing processes, in material-technical analysis and testing and/or flow simulation

What we offer:

  • A dedicated "LMP+" team that works together on new findings and innovative solutions
  • In a highly motivating research environment, explore the basics, create new knowledge, gain insights, overcome hurdles and support the transfer to applications
  • A wide range of direct support from Professor Woizeschke for personal development
