Profile

Peer Woizeschke, which I founded in 2022, is based on my many years of work in the field of researching and applying laser radiation as a tool for processing materials. As a highly flexible tool, laser radiation has opened up areas of application in production engineering in all main groups (primary forming, forming, cutting, joining, coating and changing material properties).

The laser radiation tool can provide high-precision amounts of energy in terms of time and space, contact-free from the macro to the micro range. This energy input into the material allows, for example, pulsed or continuous targeted heating, melting and vaporization of metals. Keywords that are often used in connection with laser material processing include "contactless", "fast", "precise" and "flexible".

LMP+
„The "+" in LMP+ (Laser Materials Processing) and the addition of "process chain orientation" in the professorship's title indicate that the laser beam processes do not generally stand alone, but are sub-steps of larger process chains, parts of combined process concepts or components of complex manufacturing systems.“

In our working group, the "+" stands for, among other things...

  • Expanding knowledge of the relationships and phenomena involved in laser material processing (process understanding)
  • Expanding the possible applications of laser radiation as a tool through the discovery, exploration and (further) development of processes and process chains (process development)
  • Increasing the resource efficiency and reliability of processes (process efficiency)
  • Replacing, expanding or improving existing approaches by inventing novel process concepts (inventions)
  • Identifying, understanding and utilizing synergies along the process chains with previous and subsequent process steps (process chain synergies)
  • Laser beam processes with a special focus on machining production (LMP+ meets ISF)
  • Digitalization of processes and process development as well as process data management (process digitalization)
  • Improving product properties and enabling new products (product (further) development)
